History of St. Andrew Lutheran
Church
1991 - St. Andrew Lutheran Church held its first
official Sunday worship service at 8:30 a.m., Palm Sunday,
March 14, 1991, Mountain Shadows Community Center in Sun City.
1992 - The chapter was opened for membership.
1993 - October 31, 1993, St. Andrew Lutheran Church was officially
chartered and became part of the Grand Canyon Synod of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church.
1996 - Groundbreaking occurred in spring of 1996.
1997 - February 8, 1997, the church moved to their new building.
2001 - Pastor Phillip Shuart became the third interim and fourth
pastor. He was called to be the permanent pastor in March 2002.
2002 - St. Andrew held its first All Congregation Consecration
Sunday at the Suncoast Hotel in November 2002.
2003 - In February of 2003, nineteen congregational leaders
met at the Suncoast Hotel for a "visioning day" with church
growth expert Pastor Gene Perry from the Grand Canyon Synod. |
